This summer I visited family near Ocean Beach, NJ. Even though I live in Florida where we can go to the beach year round there's something about northeast beaches that attracts me. I love a boardwalk with funky shops full of beach merchandise and the calming scent of salt air combined with boardwalk foods.

Summer at Sandstone Cottage was scheduled for release the following week.

Wonderful memories of time spent with family on California beaches inspired many scenes in the book. I have to admit, something about the vastness of the Pacific Ocean draws me to the beaches on the west coast of the United States.

I don't dismiss city or mountain vacations, but nothing leaves me feeling as peaceful as a day at the beach.

SCENE FROM SUMMER AT SANDSTONE COTTAGE -

Casey shook her head and glanced at the concrete house on the cliff. The light reflected on the foliage hanging overhead, casting leaf like shadows on the sand. "I've always loved this beach at night. Last summer, I spent two weeks in the Hamptons, but the view was nothing like this. the night sky was too bright with lights from houses along the beach." She turned off her lamp and gazed at the dark ocean, the vastness stretching endlessly. A salty sea breeze, carrying a faint scent of seaweed, brushed her skin. Behind her, the cliffs hid the deck lights. "But here, in the darkness, the ocean swallows the world."

Zach shut off his light. "Yeah, it's pretty fantastic out here, especially in the dark." He stood behind her, place his hands on her shoulders, and massaged gently.
